What made you decide to start your business?

My father started training dogs after his own trained German Shepherd (Eagle) sacrificed his life to save his 3-year old son (me) from the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Did you have any experience in the industry before starting your business?

Dogs have always been a part of our life.

What's your favorite part of running your business? What about the most difficult?

The favorite thing about training dogs is watching the transformation of an ordinary dog with behavioral issues into a confident, obedient, well-trained companion. The most difficult part of our business is surviving the slow periods when there isn't a lot of training jobs coming in.

When you're not running your business, how do you enjoy spending your time?

Our business is our life but when we are away, we enjoy spending time with our two grandchildren.

How long have you been using DoggieDashboard to manage your business?

We have been using DoggieDashboard for about two years now. We were looking for kennel management software that wouldn't break the bank and DoggieDashboard was a perfect fit.

Any advice you'd like to give to people considering starting a pet care business?

Anyone considering opening your own dog service business, whether it's boarding, daycare, training, grooming, etc, be patient. There's no getting rich quick in this line of work. There are busy times and slow times. You will need to learn how to budget for the slow periods.
