Has a friend ever told you about a restaurant that they just love, so you and your partner decided to check it out? Have you ever gone on vacation and asked a local for a tip about any attractions that are worth seeing? Iâm guessing the answer is yes to both of these. You went to a restaurant and visited a museum purely on referral. Why? Because we trust referral from people we know or locals.
Now the question is, how do we get more referrals for our dog daycare. In todayâs blog post, weâre going to talk about just that.Customer referrals are a powerful way to grow your dog daycare business. When satisfied clients recommend your services to friends and family, it not only brings in new business but also builds trust and credibility for your brand. Getting more referrals isnât that difficult really, just watch.
1. Create a Referral Program
Implementing a structured referral program is one of the most effective ways to
encourage your existing clients to refer new customers. You can either create your own referral program using DoggieDashboard or an excel file, or you can go out and subscribe to an online referral program that keeps track of your referrals for you. Either way will work. Offer incentives that reward both the referring client and the new customer. For example, you might provide a discount on future services, a free day of daycare, or a small gift for each successful referral. No one is going to refer clients if the referral prize isnât worth it. If youâre giving out a 10% discount on daycare, what does that come to, maybe $3 or so? Not worth it. However, if you give out a free day or week of daycare for every referral, you might get people actively referring a couple new clients per month so that their Fido gets free daycare. For you, itâs still a win-win. Youâre getting a few new clients a month that will add thousands to your yearly revenue and youâre only giving away the occasional week of free daycare. Design a clear and straightforward referral process to make it easy for clients to participate. Provide clients with referral cards or unique discount codes they can share with their network. Ensure that the benefits of the referral program are well-communicated through your website, social media, and in-house materials.
2. Leverage Positive Reviews and Testimonials
Encourage satisfied clients to
leave positive reviews and testimonials on platforms such as Google, Yelp, or Facebook. High-quality reviews not only enhance your online reputation but also serve as a powerful form of social proof that can attract new clients. We all rely on reviews these days. Before booking a hotel, I read reviews. Before going to a new restaurant, I read reviews. Itâsâ just what we do. Make it easy for clients to leave reviews by providing direct links or step-by-step instructions on how to submit their feedback. After collecting reviews, share them prominently on your website and social media channels. Additionally, consider showcasing client testimonials in marketing materials or on a dedicated testimonials page to build credibility and trust. DoggieDashboard makes it easy to get reviews. You can use the Reviews Module to send emails to clients, asking them to leave a review for your business. Reviews are what make you stand out from the competition, so make it a point to get as many as you can.
3. Engage with Your Community
Being actively involved in your local community can naturally increase referrals and build strong relationships with potential clients. Participate in local events, sponsor pet-related activities, or collaborate with other local businesses, such as veterinary clinics or pet stores. Be a face around town. What do I mean by that? Make sure people recognize you when youâre out and about. If youâre at the local Walmart, you should be saying Hi to people, having little conversations here and there, etc. If no one knows that youâre a wonderful and nice person, since you arenât socially active in town, why would they refer anyone to your business? Engage with community groups and social media platforms to connect with pet owners and showcase your dog daycareâs services. Host open houses or pet-friendly events to invite potential clients to visit your facility and experience your services firsthand. By
fostering community relationships and building a positive local presence, you create opportunities for referrals and word-of-mouth marketing.
